Chair
- Promote a happy and healthy club that meets its member’s needs.Listen to members, make sure elected officers provide effective activities, administration, communication, listening, social and welfare.
- Convene and chair meetings – usually only the AGM, as we rarely hold committee meetings.
- May involve external promotion of the club, eg media and enquiries.Report to AGM.
Treasurer
- Collect income – mostly member subscriptions and training fees.
- Make orders and payments – eg hall bookings and fees, competition entries, club and player registrations, equipment purchase.
- Liaise with bank, keep accurate financial records (income and expenditure).Report to AGM.
Secretary
- Affiliate / register RWB club with Volleyball England (summer).
- Submit competition entries, check and communicate dates – SWL, WVL, DK Cup, etc (summer).
- Submit player registrations – SWL, WVL (mostly early season).
- Ensure effective internal and external communications, keep club records.Report to AGM.
Club welfare officer
- Help the club safeguard and protect young people and vulnerable adults.
- Encourage safe and appropriate coaching and club activities.
- Listen, advise, signpost appropriate welfare services for any concerned player or their guardian.
Head coach
- Coordinate training and competition schedules that balance the needs of all members.
- Coordinate individual team coaches, player selection and team systems to encourage player and team development including player movement between teams.
- Report to AGM.
Team coaches
- Provide structured and safe activities to develop individual players and competitive teams – through training and matches.
- Continuing coach education, qualification, registration and insurance are highly desirable (essential if coaching juniors) – costs can be partly supported by the club and WVA.
Team organisers (must comply with league rules)
- Communicate with competition organisers, other clubs and our players to confirm fixtures.
- Arrange officials (referees, line-judges, scorers), bring scoreboard and scorebook.
- Submit results and scoresheets to league secretary.
Social organiser (optional)
- Organise social events for our members (& families).To promote a happy, sociable club environment.
All elected officers
- Communicate and work together as an effective committee – we don’t need boring meetings if everyone does their bit and communicates promptly.
- Represent the club as necessary – eg taking turns to attend compulsory WVA meetings.
- Our club website is currently provided as a paid service by Richard Howells (a former member).
