The team has had a very successful season again in the 1st Division (At the time of writing I believe we will end up second with a chance for promotion in the “play offs”).
The policy this season has again been to be all inclusive to develop all players and to try and play everyone where possible.
Spreading it around has pluses and minuses; however I believe that improving, and newer players benefit from this approach.
As usual we have had a solid core of players, including Ed who joined
us this season, with others fitting in as time/work/family commitments
have allowed. Both A-Team and Ladies have made themselves available to
support the team when required.
Hence we need a wide pool of players to be available to call on next season.
We have come very close to winning the league this year: losing by 1 point (That’s just one dropped set); coming 2nd we have been more consistent and have won more matches by 3 sets this season.
Next Year? That will depend on how we are able to rebuild the team.
We are losing Russ (Bound for a tour in Saudi) and possibly Amresh as
he is moving to Newbury. Both will be missed. Andrew hopefully will be
able to play a bigger part and Phil may be available, as well as any new
players we pick up at the start of the season.
But for now -----???? We have a play-off to look forward to for a place in the premiere Division.
