We played in Division 1 again this year which has turned out to be
the most successful Bee’s Season of recent years; winning 11 out of 12
matches.
Our League position as top of the league is in doubt pending a
decision on playing an unregistered player at one match, but we will
certainly be second, with the chance to play-off for promotion into the
Premier Division.
This shows an improved performance on last season, helped by an
influx of players at the start of the season as a result of the Olympics
exposure and perhaps some club marketing. Again it was great to see
improved consistency, and the development of the team, and individual
players; some who hadn’t played before this season. This allowed us to
finish off the season competitively despite the loss of several
“established” players due to injury and family commitments.
I believe that with the same pool of players available for the coming
season that we will have the opportunity to further develop as a team
and hopefully expand the squad a little if we pick up some new players
for next season. This is essential for being competitive against better
opposition, and maintaining our place in that division once we get
there.
Next season I am happy again to coach and play for the team, and
would like to thank all the “Brilliant Bee’s” for the commitment shown
throughout this last season and for making it fun and competitive.
