Notes to accounts 2020/21

• 2019/20 AGM was delayed to October 2020, hence shorter period for 2020/21 accounts.
• The COVID pandemic led to intermittent activity this season:
  • We still incurred typical membership costs (lower competition costs were offset by exceptional COVID compliance costs) so membership subscriptions are still needed and will not be refunded or credited.
  • Monthly training/playing fees were stopped (or will be credited) when there was no activity due to COVID restrictions.
  • This stop/start complexity caused lots of extra work for our Treasurer.
• Income and current balance should be interpreted with caution because we have outstanding credits/debits:
  • A few members still owe annual subscription and monthly payments.
  • Some members continued paying during lockdown, so will be in credit next season.
  • Further hall hire costs May-June to be paid out (we normally stop at end of April).

 

Financial prospects for 2021/22

• We expect / hope for a full season of club activity and competitions.
• We expect some changes in competition formats, which could impact on costs.
• Lime Kiln LC hire costs are currently held at 2020/21 prices, but may rise later.
• Ongoing COVID restrictions and safety protocols may mean fewer players or more space required, leading to higher costs per player.
• Expect slight dip in adult competition players due to COVID impacts, university and change of club session times, though some age 16+ juniors graduate to adult training.
• Expect strong demand for junior membership.
• We will discuss our future club offer and hall hire needs with Lime Kiln LC, in the hope of expanding the range of our club offer as agreed at our 2019/20 AGM (held in Oct 2020).
• We need to make sure that all our club activities and sections cover their costs.
• We will review our finances and fee structures when these issues are clearer.
• Meanwhile we propose to hold our membership prices at current levels:
