Summary of motivations
- Motivations vary : between individual players and between groups
- Many players are more motivated to develop and improve (training) than by playing competitively
- Most current players do not wish to use club sessions to play casual games

Actions for planning
- Plan and run outdoor summer sessions at Lydiard Park (agree organisers and start date)
- Enter indoor league teams for season 2018/19 (agree which women’s leagues to enter)
- Discuss with individual volunteers how they can help the club
Individual player comments and suggestions: Juniors U13
|
- Like the small group (x2)
- Like playing for fun, not just compete and win
- Enjoy participating in training
- We could coach ourselves, so we communicate more
- We could benefit from more serving practice
- Some sessions could be longer, eg 6-8pm (x2)
- Would like Saturday or Sunday, could we start at 5pm?
|
Individual player comments and suggestions: Women
|
- Like playing as a team and in tournaments
- Enjoy gathering to play with all ages, abilities, genders (x2)
- Enjoy overlapping women and men sessions, practicing against a stronger team (x2)
- 8-10pm session is tricky for work/school next day, can we start earlier? (x3)
- Ideally train more than once a week to improve skills
- Ideally have a regular coach (more often) to help the team develop
- Maybe some players take a coaching course
- Would like more social opportunities to get to know other members (x2)
- It would be helpful if more women members helped at the men’s home matches
|
Individual player comments and suggestions: Men
|
- Love the camaraderie, teamwork, team spirit, supportive atmosphere, friendly and welcoming attitude, welcoming juniors, giving everyone opportunity to play (x6)
- Generally satisfied to be a club member
- Lime Kiln location is right, maybe hold extra sessions elsewhere if necessary
- Ideally mid-week training from 7 or 8pm when there is a match on Sunday
- More serious approach to game and focus on team improvement
- More game time in training to improve
- Focus training on key skills that need to improve (eg 3 weeks in a row, eg on receiving and passing)
- Would welcome individual feedback on strengths and areas to improve (polite and constructive)
- Ideally more people to take responsibility to help run the club
|
ACTIONS
- Club planners and coaches will be guided by this understanding
- Organise more social events (we need volunteers?!)
