The loss of Jay and Olivier for the start of season as well as Vickis
subsequent decision to concentrate on Womens National League hit us hard
at the start of the season.
New talent in Tomas and in Armands playing for As and Bs as well as
the reliable Irwin enabled us to complete at the top level in Mens Div1.
Through bad coaching choice we lost the first set to our early match
Devises which we all agreed we should have won. We have often been in a
position to win this season but have failed to capitalise. Other
matches have been similarly close with us wining and losing similar
numbers of games.
With Tomas and Jorg occasionally injured, Craig balancing playing
with Catherine, Fred occasionally away and no 3rd middle hitter we have
often had a less of a full squad at training and matches than in
previous years.
I personally don't feel I have been able to plan training well
because of knowing turnout and have not put as much effort/intensity
into the training as I have in previous years.
In the past we have a competitive numbers to beat teams particularly devises that I feel is lacking this year.
I have coached for a few years and been lucky to have some good years previously.
Andy will be leaving this year as he is moving house. I wish him all the best and want to say great playing with you!
Should we decide to run an A Team next year (still I believe a big
question), I wonder if it is time for another properly qualified and
energetic coach to add inspiration to the A team?
